Abstract
The term Local Self Government is defined in one way as the transfer of authority in terms of legislative, judicial or administrative from a higher level of government to lower level. Autonomy of Local bodies is depended on the freedom from interference from higher authority of the state. To sustain this structure at local level it is necessary that regular elections are held in these bodies. Along with this adequate financial resource are necessary for proper implementation of the plans made by the Locals for the development of their area and by which Local institutions can exercise its power and function properly. The paper mainly focuses on local self government in South Africa and its relevane, problems face by people and its solution.
