Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify the factors of motivation for teaching staff and their performance. The pay packet may not be the only compensation that attracts talent. Psychologists know that people have many needs and only some of these can be satisfied directly by money. The other needs namely security, social affiliation, achievements, power, self actualization etc; also motivate behavior of an employee. It would not be incorrect to say that any other forms of motivation (praise, status, job security, recognition etc) are more important for an employee than monetary remuneration that he receives for the services rendered. The wages and incentives paid on a rational basis are essential to achieve the goals of higher productivity, through proper utilization of human resources.
