Abstract

The overriding theme in Ayn Rand’s fiction is “individualism”. Rand’s protagonists who are glorified embodiments of individualism may often seem lonely in their journey of life, but in reality they enjoy genuine friendship and rewarding romantic relationships. The antagonists on the other hand lack self-esteem; they neither value themselves nor others and therefore never discover the joy of true relationships. This paper aims to explore Rand’s totally healthy outlook to human relationships in her most popular novel, The Fountainhead.
