In this tech-era, English has a special and predominant role in the communicative sphere of the world. It has created a special identity in the field of education and acts as an instrument, a means for acquiring knowledge. In India, the language plays an important role in every student’s life. Every student wants to master it and tries all challenging ways and means. He takes utmost effort to develop his speaking skills. The language has become a vital part of a student’s life. In the current scenario, the language has an extended role to play in qualifying tests like IELTS, TOEFL etc. and there is also a need for the language to support the students to fetch a good job. The objective of this paper is to discuss the changing needs of language skills to prepare students for careers and also to face the competitive world.
