Abstract

The workers in the unorganized sector in India constitute about 93% of the total work force of the country. The unorganized sector workers, in India, are facing serious problems regarding the uncertainty of employment to hazardous conditions at work. Decreasing number of workers in agriculture and allied activities, is pushing laborers to migrate towards city centers and making the situation more complex. The transformation of the nation’s unorganized sector and providing social security benefits for people engaged in unorganized sector activities are essential to its modernization, attainment of regional economic equality and holistic development.
