IMPACT OF PRATYABHIJÑᾹ DARŚAN IN ABHIJNᾹNAŚᾹKUNTALAM

Abstract

This paper is an attempt to discover Kālidāsa’s philosophical background and the reflections of his philosophical thoughts in his literature. Since Abhijñānaśākuntalam is a matured and established creation of Kālodāsa as well, it appears beneficial to select this composition for this research perspective. Pratyabhijñādarśan, as a branch of realistic idealism school i.e. Kashmir śaivism comprises a very noteworthy aesthetic aspect. This paper covers the acts of Abhijñānaśākuntalam with its philosophical approach. It is tried to highlight the philosophical concepts of pratyabhijñā in terms of Abhijñānaśākuntalam. It further focuses on the resemblances of protagonist with that of the ontological concepts metaphorically. Mainly, what we are going to discuss is the properties of Pratyabhijñādarśan in Kālidāsa’s work Abhijñānaśākuntalam.
