GOODS AND SERVICES TAX (GST) IN INDIA- AN OVERVIEW AND ITS IMPACT ON INDIAN ECONOMY

Abstract

The proposed study is designed to know the impact of GST on different sectors of the economy. The paper covers almost ten important sectors of the economy viz. FMCG, Pharmaceuticals, Transport sector, Banking and Insurance, Real Estate, Automobiles, Textiles, Gold, Hotels and Restaurants, Agriculture. It tries to find the overall impact of GST on that particular sector. As per (The Hindu) newspaper 77 percent of CFO’s admitted that GST impacted their business positively and aided in the ease of doing business. The study is exploratory cum descriptive in nature and secondary data has been used for the study. Data was collected from newspapers, journals, magazines, internet etc. It was found from the study that successful adoption of GST has been vital contributors to the exemplary ascend of Indian economy globally.
