Abstract

Tourism depends on the quality of both man-made and natural environment. However, the association of tourism with the environment is complicated. It involves various operations that can have tremendous environmental effects. These effects are associated with the establishment of general infrastructure such as roads, accommodations and other tourism facilities. On the other hand, negative impacts of tourism can destroy environmental resources on which it actually relies. The present paper is intended to address the concerns of pilgrimage tourism in sacred sites of Andhra Pradesh with respect to environmental aspects. The study has utilized structured questionnaire technique to collect responses from the respondents and used ANOVA, Chi-Square & SEM analysis as statistical methods to comprehend the effects of environment in pilgrimage tourism.
