The present content analysis of the literature on cross-national advertising tries to make sense of what seems a priori isolated, and therefore non conclusive findings by bringing them together in an analytic review of 210 research papers from the early 1960s to 2006. Our findings show that the cross-national advertising literature leans toward adaptation over the whole period, however with increasing standardization over time. Taboos, customs, and social mores still require local adaptation. Advertising execution should be customized while there is no clear recommendation for ad strategy. In fact, ad standardization is shown to be contingent on product category.

This purpose of this study is to evaluate the involvement of IMF in low income countries and to study the impact of IMF programmes on health and education spending. Although often prized as a small and efficient decision-making body, the Board represents some countries more effectively than others.. IMF programmes have a modest positive impact on health and education spending. A new trianzgular'division of authority' among the IMF, the World Bank and the World Trade Organisation is emerging. IMF still has to play a major role in managing international finance in a global economy.

FDI has become a key part of national development strategies for many countries for boosting domestic capital, productivity & employment which are very crucial for economic growth. The recent clamor about opening up the retail sector to FDI becomes a very sensitive issue, with argument to support both sides of the debate. It is widely acknowledged that FDI can have some positive results on the economy. Supporters of FDI in retail trade talk of how ultimately the consumer is benefited by both price reduction and improved selection brought about by the technology and know-how of foreign player in the market. This is turn can lead to greater output and domestic consumption. But the most important factor against FDI is that it is labour displacing to the extent that it can only expand by destroying the traditional retail sector.

The editors are familiar with pressures from the public relations and advertising industry to smuggle viewpoints into the media. They must see that the judiciary is free from such pressures.

Abstract

Proton NMR is without a doubt the single most important spectroscopic technique for organic chemists who are attempting to determine or confirm the identity of a compound. I want to emphasize here that the theory and uses of NMR are very complex. There are dozens if not hundreds of NMR experiments that can be performed besides the carbon and proton NMR experiments that are familiar to you from your undergrad organic course. If you want to learn more about the theory behind NMR and the myriad ways it can be used, you can look into taking an NMR class at your university. How NMR Works (In a Nutshell) You are hopefully familiar with the fact that electrons have spins from general chemistry. Recall that these spins can be up or down, that a given electron''''s spin is represented by the quantum number ms, and that ms has two possible values of +1/2 and -1/2. This is only part of the spin story in atoms, however. It turns out that certain isotopes of certain elements, including hydrogen-1 (protons) and carbon-13, have nuclear spins as well. Note that carbon-12, the most common isotope of carbon, does NOT have a nuclear spin, and therefore carbon-12 CANNOT undergo NMR.

Abstract

India has a large number of teachers and needs many more. All processes of teacher recruitment, training, motivation, incentives, retention and feedback therefore have to be planned on a large scale. Further the ultimate goal of in-service teacher development should be to ensure that optimal learning takes place in the classrooms. The current physical and intellectual state of India’s teacher education programme holds out no promise of discernible improvement in the near future. Teacher development should look at variable strategies to address the diverse needs of elementary teachers. Short training courses, mentoring, on site academic support to teachers, practice classroom teaching under a master teacher, distance learning and peer learning are some possibilities.

Abstract

Contemporary debates on decentralization has revolved around three important issues: issues of historicity, issues of expanding democratic spaces, and finally inclusive growth as well as inclusive politics of social categories. These debate have over looked certain historical facts – one, it has overlooked the historicity of decentralization particularly in the imagined history of orient, and thereby accept the argument that it is a post-colonial contemporary phenomenon, particularly it belongs to the decade as well as the realm of globalization. The latter is argued on the ground that many developing countries witnessed the process of decentralization either during 1980s or 1990s as part of policy prescription advocated by the global agencies. One can give many examples for such a trend. In Bolivia, for example the trend began during 1994, although it came as a reaction to cultural recognition of identities of different ethnic groups. However it can be said that it came as part of “prescription of globalization”. Similar is the case of Chile, Columbia, Republic of Guniea Bassue(1994), Mali (1993), Niger etc.

Abstract

The lungs, heart and blood vessels perform a vital function as the body’s supply system. They supply the muscles with the necessary fuels and oxygen, and carry away waste products such as carbon-di- oxide (co2) and lactic acid. Consequently, the cardio- respiratory system in the athlete needs to be developed to match the muscles which it supplies and cleanses. It is believed that bigger the lungs and heart size greater will be the cardio-respiratory efficiency. Hence the Research Scholar undertook the present study to determine the relationship among the selected variables as well to find out the difference among the Football, Volleyball and Handball.

Abstract

India has rich traditions and history in holistic strategies for buildings and construction. India is witnessing tremendous growth in infrastructure development. The construction industry in India is one of the largest economic activities. The building sector is the single highest consumer of energy, and hence the largest contributor to green house gas emissions. Also, with the tremendous growth in this sector, there is an increase in the number and variety of challenges posed. Preserving the environment has become a prime concern along with the growth and development of our economy. Despite this the sustainable buildings agenda (Green Buildings) has received less attention. In view of this, the construction sector therefore needs to identify and play a responsible role towards preservation of the environment. A coordinated approach is required to address the sustainable building agenda in a wider sense. The researcher has put an attempt to present a panoramic view of some key issues related to the sharing of perspectives and ideas for sustainable buildings in India. The paper highlights the magnitude of energy consumption of the rural and the urban sector and thereby the resultant carbon emissions from the building sector alone. Some key attributes of sustainable buildings are also briefed. LEED and GRIHA both, as building rating systems are briefly introduced. The paper ends with a clarification of some myths as against the realities on green buildings.
