Abstract

It is rather obvious that there is a definite trend towards privatization of education in India. The Government in order to fulfill its obligation of providing free and compulsory Primary Education is investing more and more for the development of the Primary Education. A direct outcome of this has been the decrease in the investment in higher education by the Government. Private enterprises could be encouraged to start professional institutions but it must be ensured that the entry of private enterprises into the scene does not lead to privatization. The entry of Private enterprises would ease the burden of the State in providing higher education to its citizens. Regulatory arrangement must be put in place before the private sector is allowed to enter the educational sector. The State at the same time cannot absolve itself from the obligation of providing education to its citizens, a majority of whom cannot afford education in private professional institutions.

Indian market for the consumer products is made up of two distinct parts, one is urban and other is rural market. It has been a matter of great enquiry both for the marketing academics and practitioners whether there is a need for developing separate strategy for rural markets. By and large, Indian market scenario shows that marketers have rarely come out with separate marketing strategy for rural markets overly; however, marketers did develop separate marketing mix for rural markets covertly. Whenever it is rural marketing for their brands, marketer tended to price their products low, keeping the products quality at an average level, cutting costs on the extra frills added to the product.

Really speaking the Mizo people are an ethnic group native to north-eastern India, western Burma and eastern Bangladesh who speak any of various Kukish languages. The present Indian state of Mizoram was called the Lushai Hills and was a district of Assam, before it became a Union Territory and afterwards a full-fledged state. The Lusei people were the first Mizo people to have an external exposure and hence the ethnicity was initially known as the Lushai people. The demand for a distinct political territory for the people of Lushai Hills resulted in the creation of a separate Union Territory and afterwards the State of Mizoram. In this struggle, one of the powerful factors was the movement to call themselves Mizo, rather than by distinct clan names such as Paite, Lushei, Ralte, Gangte, Mara, Pawi, Hmar etc. Their languages belong to the Tibeto-Burman, their brethren are the Chins in the adjacent Chin State of Burma, as well as those of the Kukis.

South Asians adopted Imami, or Twelver, Shi’ism in great numbers, mostly after the Safavid conquest of Persia in the first decade of the 16th century. Many Persians had emigrated to southern India during the Mongol period (13-14th centuries), and when Imami Shi’ism became the state religion of Persia in the 16th century they tended to adopt the new creed. Shi’ism was also spread by later Persian immigrants, including nobles, merchants, and ’olama?, and by indigenous sayyeds (those claiming descent from the Prophet Mo?ammad) and Shi’ite Sufis. As the Persian immigrants tended to become bureaucrats and landholders, they were in a position to promote their beliefs through patronage. Shi’ites probably now constitute about 5 percent of Indian Muslims.

And as it is the translator/translatress who codes, decodes the ST and (re)creates the TT, his/ her assumptions, world view, belief, values or in broader sense ‘ideology’ consciously or unconsciously is reflected in the translation. Moreover if a text written by woman is translated by a woman, then the translator’s subject position intervenes the translating process doing ideological shifts in various levels making the final product a different discourse. This article would provide a case study of my experience in translating Pratibha Ray’s Nishiddha Prithivi into English and the problematic and possibilities associated with translating woman.

Peace in patriarchy is war against women. The evil in the world has been adequately portrayed by Vijay Tendulkar in his dramas. All his plays deal with the oppression of the weak by the powerful. Vivacity of characters and explicitness in the portrayal of incidences are the chief features of the play Kanyadaan. Kanyadaan analyses minutely the conflicts troubling the inner core of heart and mind. We find poetic and emotional manifestations of women’s soul, adjustment with the situation, tenderness of her mind, agitations of love memories and her endurance are outstandingly presented in the most appealing way. In our society as well as in Vijay Tendulkar’s plays we can see the incidences of criminality, oppression and violence against fair sex. Our male dominant society has imposed restrictions on females in the name of ideology and culture. In this play a well educated woman becomes a victim of domestic brutality, mental aggravation, disloyalty of trust and marital dispute.

But these enactments threaten the subsistence rights of the local tribals as they are forest dependants. This paper focuses on the various shades of Samuel Beckett’s epoch-making play Waiting for Godot from a postmodern perspective, without denying abundance of modernist elements embedded in it. Nullification of linear historical time, imprisonment within an ahistorical prospect, predisposition toward the perception of uncertainty or the notion of half chances, evincing numerous signs of binary opposition and most important of all, displaying absolute absurdism in all parts of the play have paved the path to give it a postmodern scrutiny.

But as of today, they expect a wide variety of services as a democratic right with greater degree of accountability as well as transparency. So, the public authorities need to wake up and find a solution in this regard. Reform in the existing system is the demand of the day and E-Governance is the tool that can be triggered to achieve the objectives of good governance through proper implementation of the need based public policies. However, lack of citizen awareness, political will, organizational and technological infrastructure etc has posed hindrances to the effective implementation of E-Governance. This has resulted in its minimal use. Many of the E-Governance projects have, therefore, resulted in wasteful expenditure and ineffective service delivery. The challenge is to overcome these hindrances and provide for an optimal exploitation of ICT in governance.

Children are often regarded as the symbol of love, innocence and peace. Men of letters have expressed them, as the embodiment of God himself and love towards them is regarded as a measure of gratitude to God. Since they are weak physically compared to the adults, they form the weaker part of society leading to their exploitation in various areas; be it labour, sexual abuse or otherwise, regardless of their geographical or cultural origin victimization of children has been a constant feature of almost all societies for all times.

In a society where democracy is the way of life education is not an ornament or luxury, but an absolute necessity. Education must be for all the children of all the people. Employees naturally compare their workplace with others, past and potential, and if you are better by comparison, you can raise the emotional "barrier to exit" among your skilled workers. Monster's study of loyal workers in 2006 uncovered several factors that are important to the A-level loyalists, which an employer can use to encourage top players to stay. One good step: turn to your longtime employees and ask why they are still with you. Those who have developed a loyalty to your organization can tell you what you're doing right.

The word hospitality derives from the Latin hospes, (159) which is formed from hostis, which originally meant "to have power." In the West today hospitality is rarely a matter of protection and survival, and is more associated with etiquette and entertainment. However, it still involves showing respect for one's guests, providing for their needs, and treating them as equals. Cultures and subcultures vary in the extent to which one is expected to show hospitality to strangers, as opposed to personal friends or members of one's in-groups.

In Sultanate historiography there has been little interest in the study of the social rooting of Sultanate elites and its possible impact on the regime’s territorial dimensions. Instead, it is the impermanent nature of territorial command that has been the subject of scholastic comment. Sultanate historiography has placed a huge emphasis on the iqta‘ as a means of introducing centralised governance – taxation, policing, curbing refractory chieftains – through the temporary ‘posting’ of Sultanate military commanders in various territories. The evidence does not bear out this understanding of early thirteenth century governance: senior Sultanate military commanders—the bandagan-i khass—were seldom shifted from their commands, especially from the more important provinces.

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a value added tax that will replace all indirect taxes levied on goods and services by the Government, both Central and States, once it is implemented. The GST is all set to consolidate all State economies. This will be one of the biggest taxation reforms that will take place in India once the Bill gets officially the green signal to implement. The basic idea is to create a single, cooperative and undivided Indian market to make the economy stronger and powerful. The GST will see a significant breakthrough towards an all-inclusive indirect tax reform in the country. Clause 366(12A) of the Constitution Bill defines GST as “goods and services tax” means any tax on supply of goods, or services or both except taxes on the supply of the alcoholic liquor for human consumption. Further the clause 366(26A) of the Bill defines “Services” means anything other than Goods. Thus it can be said that GST is a comprehensive tax levy on manufacture, sale and consumption of goods and services at a national level. The proposed tax will be levied on all transactions involving supply of goods and services, except those which are kept out of its purview.

Financial inclusion or inclusive financing is the delivery of financial services at affordable costs to sections of disadvantaged and low-income segments of society, in contrast to financial exclusion where those services are not available or affordable. An estimated 2 billion working-age adults globally have no access to the types of formal financial services delivered by regulated financial institutions Even after 60 years of independence, a large section of Indian population still remain unbanked. This malaise has led generation of financial instability and pauperism among the lower income group who do not have access to financial products and services. However, in the recent years the government and Reserve Bank of India has been pushing the concept and idea of financial inclusion. Policy makers have grapped with the issue of reducing the scope of informal sector since colonial times .Nicholson report (1895) was the first to highlight the need to establish “LAND BANKS” as an alternative to dominace of money lenders . resulting , the cooperative credit societies Act , 1904 was passed to provide , amongst other things , a legal basis for cooperative credit societies .

Dalit poetry in India can be traced back to bhakti kal. During freedom struggle one of the deepest impacts on Indian literature is Mahatma Gandhi and Gandhian philosophy. Dalit is an oppressed class but its situation is even worse and more complicated. The caste exploitation is characteristically unique and very different from class exploitation. But there seems sometimes an overlapping and some time a clash between progressive thought that was shaped by the paradigms of Marxist concept of class conflict and dalit consciousness that was shaped by the experience of humiliation and depravity imposed by a religiously sanctioned social order. It is in this context, Sant Ram Udasi is being discussed in the paper. Though he belonged to the depressed class, he consciously and explicitly was a revolutionary poet of the oppressed. Whether he was unconsciously avoiding a conflict within or was aiming at some kind of synthesis. It remains enigma.

Abstract

The concept of Panchayati Raj is nothing new. It was the dream of Gandhi, the father of the nation, its need was stressed by Pandit Nehru, and it was repeatedly and forcefully advocated by Late Shri Jai Prakash Narayan. But, unfortunately, for various reasons, not much headway could be made for the realization of this ideal. Ever since Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi came to the helm of affairs in the country he repeatedly stressed the importance of Panchayati Raj. He formed his views on the subject by under-taking whirlwind tours of rural India to familiarize himself with the realities of rural life, by holding frequent workshops of District magistrates all over the country, and thus assessing their views and understanding their difficulties.
