Abstract

About Dattani it is said, “Dattani’s plays deal with real scenarios that are tough to turn away from. They are couched in Indian urban speak. They shy away from myth and make believe to tackle reality head on, no matter what the impact of collision.” Mahesh Dattani explores the hushed up issues of society and exposes social duality. He writes for the marginalized people, who occupy the fringes of society and cannot speak for themselves. He brings out the issues pertaining to sexual abuse, religious intolerance, transgender identity, homosexuality and gender discrimination. He expresses his concern for taboo themes, one of which is the sensitive issue of child abuse. It is a ‘Silent crime’, in which the victim not only bears the pain of physical humiliation but also the anguish of suppression of her voice. He voices the mute miseries and helplessness of the victims of child abuse.

Man is a reflective animal besides being a biological entity. In fact, this very quality of contemplation separates him very acutely from other animals that occupy space on this Globe. That is why he is the apex of Creation. The tremendous progress in the sphere of cultures and civilizations has been the result of man’s ‘high think ability.’ It is said that every human being born, is either a fool or a philosopher though a layman might take a philosopher for a person who has reached the state of ‘absent mindedness’. From the biological point of view, innumerable changes have occurred in human structure and that man has been labouring hard, since the very days consciousness dawned on him, to take the natural environment suitable for his living. Whatever man is to-day, whatever he has achieved or ‘movement’ is his biological property and reflection is his mental attributes.

This study is an attempt to understand the concept of perception and its crucial role in management decision. Management takes any decision according to its perception and intuition. Intuition decision making is commonly used in scenarios that provide small of amounts of information and when decisions are needed quickly. Intuitive ability is a valuable asset for managers in today's business world. So, intuition is a disguised process that managers like to "dress up" prior to presenting the things to superiors. Today's managers use intuition decision making probably more than any other process. But it is important for managers to absorb the entire picture as much as possible prior to concluding with a decision.

Abstract

The evolution of corporate social responsibility in India refers to changes over time in India of the cultural norms of corporations' engagement of corporate social responsibility (CSR), with CSR referring to way that businesses are managed to bring about an overall positive impact on the communities, cultures, societies and environments in which they operate. The fundamentals of CSR rest on the fact that not only public policy but even Corporates should be responsible enough to address social issues. Thus companies should deal with the challenges and issues looked after to a certain extent by the states. CSR is no longer charity or philanthropy but valid corporate strategy. This is something that the government needs to emphasize. A Milton Friedman-esque model of business without societal give-back is dead. The sooner corporate India understands this, the better. There are many misconceptions about CSR that even those in the corporate field are unable to dispel. There are still others that use this knowledge black-hole to push their own agenda.

Small and marginal farmers in India are contributing three-fourth of operational landholdings in the country. These two categories of farmers are playing a significant role in the agrarian economy of the country. In the absence of corresponding facilitating changes in the state institutions dealing with agriculture viz. agricultural information, credit and marketing services, the ramifications of adoption of agricultural innovations proved disastrous. Negating the assumptions of scale neutrality; empirical evidences suggest that the social context of adoption of agricultural technologies and the structural forces located in the social milieu operate and influence the outcome of agricultural technological innovations. Such outcomes appear to be grave for the marginal and small holdings and vice versa with the large holdings. The present paper based on the empirical understanding of social context of adoption of agricultural technologies, specifically in crop production, argues that in the absence of state support and facilitating institutions agricultural innovations contribute to economic environment and social risks for the marginal and small land holders.

The paper will discuss the impact of Immanuel Kant’s Peace model in the 21st century and how this hypothetical model has affected the Human Rights Jurisprudence in the 21st Century. Kant’s model has baffled theorists all over the globe. But it seems that the Doctrine of Responsibility to protect has found the solution to put Kant’s ideas in motion. This doctrine is applicable for the political inclusion of Fail / Weak States who are constant violators of Human Rights. The paper argues that Responsibility to Protect when read with the medieval Christian doctrine of Vindicae Contra Tyrannos and Subsidiarity, provides a practical application of Kant’s model .This will improve the Human Rights situation in the Fail/ Weak States.

Let’s take up firstly a detailed study of myth .the word itself comes from the Greek “Mythos” which originally meant “speech” or “discourse” but later came to mean “fable” or “legend”. Myths are cosmogonist narratives, connected with the foundation or origin of the universe though often specifically in terms of a particular culture or region. Given the connection to origins, the setting is typically premedical and characters are proto human or deific.

Game theory is a study of strategic decision making. Specifically, it is "the study of mathematical models of conflict and cooperation between intelligent rational decision-makers". An alternative term suggested "as a more descriptive name for the discipline" is interactive decision theory.Game theory is mainly used in economics, political science, and psychology, as well as logic and biology. The subject first addressed zero-sum games, such that one person's gains exactly equal net losses of the other participant or participants. Today, however, game theory applies to a wide range of behavioral relations, and has developed into an umbrella term for the logical side of decision science, including both humans and non-humans (e.g. computers). Modern game theory began with the idea regarding the existence of mixed-strategy equilibria in two-person zero-sum games and its proof by John von Neumann. Von Neumann's original proof used Brouwer fixed-point theorem on continuous mappings into compact convex sets, which became a standard method in game theory and mathematical economics. His paper was followed by the 1944 book Theory of Games and Economic Behavior, co-written with Oskar Morgenstern, which considered cooperative games of several players. The second edition of this book provided an axiomatic theory of expected utility, which allowed mathematical statisticians and economists to treat decision-making under uncertainty.

Abstract

Many HRIS are part of larger, enterprise-wide systems that enable integration of organisational information about human resources with the major functions, such as finance and production (Tansley and Newell, 2006). In a similar manner HRIS become a major MIS sub-function within the personnel areas of many large corporations (DeSanctis, 1986). The MIS area plays an advisory role in HRIS and must coordinate planning of systems design and enhancements across all functional areas (DeSanctis,1986). DeSanctis (1986) indicated that 33% of firms did not coordinate personnel department plans with corporate strategic plans. Lack of planning from the overall organisational level to the department level made coordination of plans between MIS and the HRIS area difficult to achieve. DeSanctis (1986) study showed that still some organisations struggle to integrate HRIS with overall IS. The management issues associated with HRIS may also be encountered in other functional areas of the organisation where information systems are developing independence from the corporate MIS area (DeSanctis, 1986).

The human population growth has posed pressure on the existing land by way of meeting his basic demand like food, fodder, pulses and fuel. In order to attain the goal of self sufficiency one has to provide a sufficient amount of nutritious food and fodder crop to our live stock population through an improved production methods and the utilization of every inch of uncultivated land. Saline lands may also be reclaimed for this purpose and some varieties which can grow on these soils be tried. Soil salinity has posed a problem for all times to come. This can only be overcome by implementation of improved methods of agriculture. The utilization of such soil may be achieved by cultivating some salt tolerant crop particularly in arid and semiarid areas, where adequate irrigation facilities are available. The present study shows that there are 11 amino acids were identified, irrespective of the salt treatment. They gave maximum differential response in the two varieties under salt stress condition. In variety pusa-1053 arginine, histidine, threonine, proline, valine, tryptophan, leucine are accumulated as a result of increasing salinity and variety G-186 showed accumulation of proline, tryptophan in remarkable quantity which were comparable though less in quantity to the level found in susceptible variety pusa-1053.

Abstract

Adolescence is indeed a special period of human development, not just physically but also emotionally and cognitively. Children are endowed with special ways of thinking during this period and educational inputs should ideally be designed to help their development. For instance, at around age 11, children’s brains naturally move towards more abstract thought processes, including formal reasoning, which helps in logical analysis. Psychologically they become more independent, critical, and learn to challenge the status quo, wanting to take their own decisions. Their tenacity and motivational drive to take things to their conclusion, to be able to focus attention for considerably sustained periods, to improvise and innovate, are often not appreciated, and they are not given a chance to harness these qualities for useful purposes. In fact, the lack of proper guidance and educational opportunities that should normally help in the development of such qualities often result in conflicts and tensions.
