Abstract

On the one hand, it’s considered that Italy could not fully exploit the cinematic medium for the idealization of its victory in WWI on the other it had produced between 1915 and 1917 almost 130 films on this theme and then from the end of the war in 1918 until the end of the century another 100 films have been made which treated the subject directly or indirectly. However, it is also held by scholars that in comparison with other countries Italian cinema has provided relatively less space to the representation of the Grande Guerra.
