SMALL SCALE INDUSTRIES IN MADHUBANI DISTRICT

Abstract

There are 391 registered working SSI units in the district on 31-3-2005. The details of the existing SSI units indicating the industry group to which they belong, Investment in plant and machinery and employment have been given in table. 5.1. The registered small scale sector provides employment to about 1538 persons and total investment in plant and machinery of Rs. 84.16 lakhs . The growth of SSI units in Madhubani District is gradually picking up for the last 2-3 years. Out of 391 units, 125 (32% of the total) are based engaged in wood sawing and \or wooden furniture, 77 are engineering units, 43 are extracting edible and non-edible oils, and 21 are manufacturing leather shoe and chappals etc. In addition to these 391 units 31 paped manufacturing units had been registered in Ghoghardiha block on 21t February, 2004
