Abstract

Pahadi Korwa is a particularly vulnerable tribal group of Chhattisgarh. They belong to the Chhota Nagpur area of central India. In Chhattisgarh, they are settled near Jashpur region of Chhattisgarh and are a subgroup of Munda tribe. They have evolved through times as an ethnic group. This group is trying to adopt the changes in this new era. The present paper attempts to trace the historical origin of Pahadi Korwa and all the myths related to it how their culture is different from the mainstream. Paper also tries to analyze their culture tradition and rituals and other ethnographic details. What are their major problems, and what are the government initiatives to resolve the issues and to develop them? Paper also tries to give some concluding suggestions for the betterment of their overall development.
