Abstract

This paper will discuss the research project which was conducted amongst handloom weavers living in a slum area of Delhi. It was conducted during 1994-95 by Action India Women’s Programme which has been working in this area since 1977. The project formed a part of the broader process in searching for an alternative for those people who have been left behind in the changing world. Therefore, the main aim of the research was to find out the impact of new technology on the livelihood of the handloom weavers, particularly, on the life of women in the community.
