Abstract

The present research focused on studying the impact of use of social media and gender on mental health of youngsters, as it is known fact that the part of using social media among youngsters is rapidly increasing. For a 2*2 factorial design, 100 youngsters (50 male and 50 female) were recruited from the general population of Meerut city, as randomly as possible. Data for mental health of youngsters was collected by administering a 60-items self-report measure of Kaur and Sharma. Collected data was analyzed by calculating the Mean, Standard deviation and two-way ANOVA. Results of this study revealed that both, social media use and gender significantly influence the mental health of youngsters, though the interaction of the two variables was not found to produce any impact with regard to their mental health.
