Abstract

Hindu philosophy is divided into six Sanskrit astika ("Orthodox") schools of thought, or darshanas (literally, "views"), which accept the Vedas as supreme revealed scriptures, and three nastika ("heterodox") schools, which do not accept the Vedas as supreme.
