FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH SCHOOL DROPOUT: A SOCIOLOGICAL STUDY IN THE INDO-BANGLADESH INTERNATIONAL BORDER AREA OF WEST BENGAL

The present study highlights the factors associated with school dropout in sociological context in the Indo-Bangladesh international border area of west Bengal. Dropout issue is a major obstacle in education at this area. Present Study is survey type in nature and conducted in Chapra and Tehatta-I block of Nadia district of West Bengal on 220 parents of dropout students as sample. The present study shows that the socio-economic condition of family, parents’ poor educational level, parents’ ignorance, parents’ lack of awareness toward education help student to be dropped out. Unrealistically ambition mainly to achieving better life style rather than as usual student life as well as earning huge money assists students for dropout.
