LIBRARY AUTOMATION

Abstract

For libraries, the most common automation device is the electronic digital computer. Library process that are now being controlled by the computer include bookkeeping, material ordering, cataloguing, serial control, circulation, bibliographic data retrieval and some aspect of interlibrary loan work. This articles defines the automation and its requirement in libraries. Some Automation package are describe here which are used by several libraries.
