PRAGPUR, AN RENOWNED HERITAGE VILLAGE OF KANGRA: AN ANALYSIS OF ITS RESOURCE INVENTORY

Abstract

Pragpur is a beautiful village in the District Kangra of Himachal Pradesh. It lies adjacent to River Beas and having picturesque Dhauladhar Range on its backdrop. The village was given first Heritage village status in Himachal Pradesh in 1997 and known for its distinguished heritage. The village has a prominent architectural heritage and has a large number of buildings, bungalows & temples with which many folklores are attached. Also, the village has been known for its planned streets, drainage and water system mechanism, since the British times. The research study undertaken gives a complete overview of the resource inventory of the village. All the basic information, natural inventory and tourist facilities inventory has been analysed, apart from suggesting the conservation and proper management of the resource inventory.
