Abstract

Evidence suggests that increasing physical activity and physical fitness may improve academic performance and that time in the school day dedicated to recess, physical education class, and physical activity in the classroom may also facilitate academic performance. With the purpose of fostering a fruitful collaboration between the domains of physical education and public health. Physical activity was generating a lot of public interest at the time, thanks to a steady stream of research on its numerous and significant health benefits, but there was little recognition of physical education's potential contribution as a mechanism to increase physical activity and improve overall health. Physical education, which has been a college curriculum topic for many years, aims to provide students with the information, skills, talents, and confidence to be physically active for the rest of their lives.
