Abstract

The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme was introduced by government of India on 2nd February 2006. The scheme aims to enhance the livelihood security to the households in rural areas of the state by providing round the year employment with minimum guarantee of one hundred days of wage employment. On the other hand, the scheme was also includes creation of assets for development of rural areas. Even adult members of a rural household, willing to do unskilled manual work, can apply for registration in writing or orally to the local Gram Panchayat.
