Abstract

Vijay Tendulkar is one of India’s best playwrights. He has been writing plays for Marathi drama and stage since 1950. In his plays he courageously reveals the hidden motives of the people of this country and brings home the point that powerful people deceive the powerless. Every person is caught in the swirl of power and this theme of power allied with violence, gets the maximum treatment in Vijay Tendulkar’s plays. In his play Ghashiram Kotwal, he expresses his concern on the issue of power-politics.
