Shrauta and smart or grhya- these two types of yajna should be done for the household. Among them various types of housework are special ceremonies - Vaishvadev or Panchmahayajna. Panchamahayajna refers to the five karmas, viz. After the completion of Balvaishvadev Yajna, the custom of hospitality is prevalent. It is obligatory to give alms to the Brahmachari who has come for begging. That is why Atithiyajna is known as Antim Yajna i.e. Fifth Yajna. This yajna is considered as nryajna or manusya yajna, the purpose of which is to show respect to the guest. The guest is said to be the one whose arrival date is not confirmed. The guest sacrifice is to honor the pious, truth-teller, scholar, paramayogi, monk, etc., who come to the door of the household for temporary shelter, by their care, nourishment, etc.
