Abstract

English is spoken globally and for many countries it is second official language. In India after Hindi, it is the most spoken language and gets more attention in academic, research, administration, judiciary, and health and business sectors. This paper highlights the approaches and challenges to English language teaching faced by the teachers at government secondary schools in Chapra District, Bihar. English is taught as second language in Bihar. This paper answers the questions of interaction, methods, approaches, techniques used by the teachers, problems and challenges faced while English language teaching, how teachers execute teaching pedagogy, how they motivate and develop interpersonal relations with the students, no. of training they get in a year by education department
