Abstract

Educational perspectives lead a society to obtain skill and technical knowledge. Education as the whole is the infrastructure for the development of any society. Educational is not given to the Tribal people. The tribes, due to lack of education and requisite skill are not able to take advantage of the new economic opportunities which have been grabbed by the outsiders who migrated to the tribal areas. At the District level in Nilgiris there are 32,813 scheduled tribes accounting for 4.5% of the total population in Nilgiris. the main tribal communities found in the district are Todas, Kotas, Kurumbas, Irulas, Paniyans, and Kattunaikkans.
