Abstract

India is huge populated country after the china in the world. As per the latest statistics 69 per cent of population resides in country side. In the entire population, more than 50 per cent of population is depended on agriculture till now.Agriculture is the most labour absorbing sector of the economy .The industry and services sectors also unable to provide employment opportunities to the increasing population in the country. After the 1990’s the Indian agriculture entered into the crisis which can be understood with the huge number of farm suicides across the countriy and quiting the farmers from the agriculture.So the rate of unemployment has been increasing in the country. Unemployment in India is a complex problem with numerous overlapping and intertwined causes.As per the report of the ILO's World Employment ‘Social Outlook’ , the unemployment rate in India has been in the 3.4% to 3.6% range over the UPA-government led 2009–2014 and the NDA-government led 2014–2019 periods.
