Abstract

Chetan Bhagat has been applauded as a versatile author and appreciated by the youth in India as a representative of their hopes and aspirations. It is no exaggeration to call him the bestselling Indian English novelist in India’s literary history. A reading of his novels gives an explicit sense of the major themes in his novels, namely —desire for freedom and liberty in all aspects of life, individualism, modernist outlook, effect of globalization among others, all of which are ideals the young generation hanker after.
