Abstract

Indian epic, Ramayana, significantly influenced art and culture not only within India but across the countries especially South-east Asia. The research papers studies the impact of Indian epic, Ramayana, on visual and performing art beyond national borders. Ramayana, consisting of 24,000 shlokas, written by Valmiki thousands of years ago is highly popular in various forms of art, such as dance, drama, music, sculptures, painting etc. in several countries including Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Laos etc.
