Abstract

As the ‘Prince of Indian Poets,’ Kalidasa is known to have authored and composed some of the bests of Indian classical literature. Of all his works Abhijñānaśākuntalam is deemed his masterpiece of all times. It is a prominent story of separation and union juxtaposing nature and the worldly order. Having seven acts, it is a tale based on the love of Shakuntala and King Dushyanta, each representative of the world they inhabit.
