Abstract

“Ladakh” in the contemporary sense tends to refer to the two districts namely Leh and Kargil of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. The Jammu and Kashmir State Reorganisation Act passed by the Indian parliament in August 2019 bifurcated the state of Jammu and Kashmir, granting Ladakh the status of a Union Territory without legislature.
