Abstract

Veronica Roth's Divergent appears to be the story of a harmonious and orderly system with an invisible underlying current of disharmony. The idea is that this high-tech world is a utopia where each individual seamlessly blends into a flawless faction and continues to live their life per each faction’s guidelines. In Chicago's post-apocalyptic world, the concept of the five factions is integrated with personality traits, mandating everyone to fit into one dominant trait.
