Abstract

The growth of the economy may be attributed in large part to the contributions of the nation's many micro and small businesses. Among the numerous social and economic development objectives serviced by small-scale firms in a growing economy are the absorption of labor, the creation of revenue, the development of rural areas, the reduction of poverty, the maintenance of regional balance, and the promotion of entrepreneurial spirit.
