Maintenance of law and order is one of the most important function of the State, moreover State guarantees to its citizens that there Constitutional as well as statutory rights are protected by the State. Under the Doctrine of separation of powers duty to maintain law and order was assigned to the Executive i.e. Police & other law enforcing agencies.
