Abstract

This paper delves into the enduring relevance of Shambhu Mitra’s pre-independence era drama, Ulukhagrā, in the context of contemporary gender dynamics. The play, set against the backdrop of World War II and colonial Bengal, vividly portrays the struggles of common people amidst societal and state turmoil, particularly highlighting the vulnerability of women in a patriarchal society.
