Abstract

The focus of this study is to understand the Change of the Name and Geography of Bengal on the basis of Bengal Inscriptions and and how the Bengali nation has gradually evolved into today's Bengalis. The different geographical divisions of Bengal has been mentioned to the Vedic, Epic, Sūtra and the Epigraphic literatures like Vaṅga, Gauḍa, Puṇḍravardhana, Varendra, Rāḍha, Samataṭa, Harikela, Chandradvīpa, Tāmralipta and others but the boundaries of these divisions changed from time to time.
