Abstract: The topic of the research paper will be “The Female Psyche in Anita Desai’s writings” in which analysis would be drawn in considering the conditions of women subjection and suppression in our society. It is a matter of disappointment that women of independent India is not availing her even fundamental rights such as right to property, right to freedom etc. The objective of research paper is to study the feminist literature from the point of view of the psyche of women which is considered as second sex till today and to examine the displacement of women through humiliation within our society. The findings of the research paper will be delineating that woman too can represent themselves in authentic way when they rebel against patriarchal community in order to explore her own potential on their own terms in the novels of Anita Desai.
