Abstract

Abstract Observation in predator naiad of pantala flavescens shows successful differential predation of different Larvae instars of Culex quinquefasciatus with greater preference if the II. instar larvae and least preference to iv. instar larvae ,decreasing the percentage predation with increasing density in a niche of mixed diet of oll Larval instar the predation efficiency of naiad of Pantala flavescens increased with poor pupal predation 10 Mosquitoes pupal with in 30 minutes and on the other hand 18-20 mosquito larval in 30.minutes.This observation Indicate that the naiad prefer the mosquito larvae compare than pupae, with increasing handling time indicating that Predatory efficiency and energy utilization is age based. Food deprivation and water volume (ml) along with the depth of water reveals optimum predation 20+0.13larval/30 minutes . these result when analysed statically were found to be significant suggesting a large scale culture of Pantala flavescens in fresh water body to biologically and Effectively control the C.quinquefasciatus larvae.
