EDUTAINMENT AS A TOPICAL SOCIAL PHENOMENON

Abstract

INTRODUCTION "Edutainment" is a hybrid genre that relies heavily on visual material, on narrative or game-like formats, and on more informal, less didactic style of address (Okan, 2003). It is a form of education which is designed to be entertaining, in order to keep students interested and engaged. It is a new trend developed in the field of education. Earlier it was believed to be essential only for small kids or students of lower grades, but with the increasingly competitive world and the need for quality education increasing the need for edutainment among senior students is being realized. Now even the CBSE is favoring this. UNICEF has also collaborated with central and state governments and NGOs to support joyful learning initiatives (Chaudhary, D.L.).
