Abstract

Abstract One of the reason for the recent financial crisis of large financial firms are due to the use of complicated much leveraged instruments in a cloudy trading environment.Commodity derivative trading was one such area. Commodity derivative include future and options, which are traded on organized exchanges as well as the forwards and options traded over the counter.Trading in derivatives does not affect the fundaments of supply and demand in any obvious way. The derivative trades sum to zero for every winner there is a loser, for every gain there is an equal loss. This paper investigating the brief history and facts of derivative market and its future in emerging markets focusing on the commodity segments.
