GENDER DISCRIMINATION IN ANITA NAIR’S LADIES COUPE

Abstract

Gender has always been a significant term in feminist criticism. In practice it referred primarily to women and women’s writing. All women’s writing has been studied from feminist point of view which has been called Gynocriticism. It assumes that all writing by women is marked by gender. Alicia Ostriker notes: “Writers necessarily articulate gendered experience, just as they necessarily articulate the spirit of nationality, an age, a language” (9). Feminist critics maintain that women writers are not free to renounce their gender entirely.
