RISK RETURN TRADE OFF IN RELATION TO BENCHMARK INDEX: A SECTORAL ANALYSIS

Abstract

Risk and return follow the market as soon as business comes to existence and these are significant factors which are related to different types of activities of business such as launching a new product, change in management, disinvestments, starting a new venture etc. Certain tools and gauges are used to measure their impact on business. These signals are perceived differently by aggressive, conservative and balanced investors. They have an impact on the investing decisions of the investors. There are various parameters to measure and gauge, as these counts most in the financial market. In this paper, we have endeavoured to study the performance of Indian corporate in relation to its benchmark index. To study their relationships, total 25 companies representing 5 vital sectors of the Indian economy have been selected from the NSE and analysed for a period of five years i.e. 2009-2013.
