MANAGEMENT OF MATHEMATICS ANXIETY THROUGH BEHAVIOUR TECHNOLOGY, SUPER BRAIN YOGA AND TRANSACTIONAL ANALYSIS IN NINTH STANDARD STUDENTS

Abstract

Mathematics Anxiety is an irrational fear of Mathematics. Freedman (2003) defined math anxiety as “an emotional reaction to mathematics based on a past unpleasant experience which harms future learning” (p. 1). These, unpleasant experience creates an aversion towards the subject and leads to ‘Mathematics-Avoidance’. Mathematic-Anxiety is related to poor math performance on math achievement tests which develops negative attitudes concerning Mathematics and leads to Mathematics-Avoidance (Hembree, 1990). Unfortunately, ‘Mathematics-Avoidance’ results in less competency, exposure and practice of Mathematics, leaving students more anxious and mathematically, unprepared to achieve.
