Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a dominant role in Indian Economy in terms of production, employment and export potential. These industries have recorded a high rate of growth after liberalization despite off competition from large scale industries and also Multinational Corporation. Government considers that, one of the main objects of industrialization is to provide high and stable level of employment in the Country. The survey conducted by World Bank in early 1978 revealed that a big push to small scale industries is the way to generate employment opportunities in developing country like India. It is estimated that one lakh investment in fixed assets in the small scale industries generates employment for four persons (DC MSME). In India small and Medium enterprises provides maximum employment next only to agricultural sector (Sivayya & Das, 1987).
