PARTICIPATION OF TRIBAL HOUSEHOLD WOMEN AND THEIR EMPOWERMENT THROUGH MGNREGA AND ITS DETERMINANTS: A STUDY IN SOUTH GOA

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to examine the impact and tribal women participation in MGNREGA on the basis of field survey conducted in South Goa district in the state of Goa, in order to find out in what extent the MGNREGA has helped to improve their status and how this scheme has improve the women empowerment in tribal area. In this paper various secondary data is used from RBI and MGNREGA official annual reports, special interviews are conducted. Overall preliminary findings say that this scheme has the potentiality to boost the rural development, if the implementation, management and delivery are in good, and it’s also helped the weaker position of the women in the labour market to improve their livelihood and status.
