ROLE OF YOGA AND MEDITATION COPING STRATEGY OF MENTAL DISORDERS- STRESS

Abstract

This study aimed at determining the effect of yoga and meditation in coping with stress. It also attempted to study the difference in the degree of stress among male and female respondents. A sample of 160 yoggist – mediators and non –yoggist mediators with equal number of males and females from group of 35-55 years were selected. The subjects were administered on Robert Sharpe’s life style stressors Inventory. Results indicated that yoggist- meditators show comparatively lesser degree of stress symptoms than non yoggist-meditators. Similarly females showed more stress symptoms than male respondents.
