A CORRELATION STUDY OF PERSONALITY TRAITS, EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND ATTITUDE TOWARDS TEACHING PROFESSION OF SECONDARY SCHOOLS’ TEACHERS

Abstract

ABSTRACT The present study determined the relationship their attitudes, personality traits and emotional intelligence among secondary school teachers. The major aim of the study was study the relation between personality traits, emotional intelligence and attitude towards teaching profession of Government and Private school teachers. A sample of 600 teachers drawn from Secondary schools with stratified randomization technique of sampling was employed for collecting the data. The following tools: Emotional Intelligence Scale (EIS): Sri Nivasan and Murugesan, 16P.F. (Personality) by RB Cattell’s and Attitude towards Teaching Profession by Umme Kulsum were used. Major findings were: There is no significant correlation between personality, emotional intelligence and attitude towards teaching profession of Government and Private school teachers. So, Government and Private school teachers’ personality, emotional intelligence and attitude towards teaching profession have no relationship to affect each others.
