Abstract

Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru1 The core principle of the democratic process is that all the communities within the nation should have an equal opportunity to participate in decisions affecting their lives. The emphasis of democratic polity is on decentralization of power so that the affairs at local levels could be managed by those who are intimately related to and directly affected by them. Local bodies made an objective to make women not only a beneficiary but a constructive contributor too. It has been shown in many studies that women from all the communities and economic classes are appearing in political domain.
