Abstract

A self help group is a viable tool of women empowerment. The groups provide access to low cost financial services with a process of self management and development of the SHG members. SWOT analysis is a qualitative tool by which the strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats of the SHGs could be identified and helps in assessment of the performance of the groups. The paper presents the SWOT analysis of the sample respondents of the SHGs. An attempt is made to examine the strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities of the SHGs so as to analyze the prospects of Self Help Groups in microfinance management.
