Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the controversy over the genetically modified food in the light of the events happened in southern Africa in 2002. It further explores how various southern African countries like Zambia rejected the genetically modified American food aid while they were suffering from a famine and acute food shortage. This instance resulted in intense negotiations among the actors involved, which I intend to examine throughout the length of the paper.
